Job Description

Title: Community Partnerships Coordinator Classification: Admin Support

FLSA Status: Exempt Immediate Supervisor: Superintendent

Job Summary The Community Partnerships Coordinator develops, coordinates, and strengthens relationships between Waterloo Community Schools and the broader community. The Coordinator serves as a key district connector with businesses, community organizations, alumni, volunteers, civic groups, families, and other stakeholders.

The position is responsible for expanding community partnerships, strengthening alumni engagement, coordinating community outreach and events, developing volunteer and ambassador opportunities, and creating meaningful ways for community members to connect with and support Waterloo Schools. The position also helps ensure district leadership remains connected to community needs, feedback, and opportunities.

This position requires the use of independent judgment, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to represent the district professionally throughout the community. The essential functions include:

  • Community relations and outreach
  • Community and business partnerships
  • Alumni engagement
  • Volunteer and ambassador engagement
  • Community events and stakeholder engagement

Hiring Specifications:

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, required
  • Coursework or graduate work related to communications, public relations, community engagement, education, business, nonprofit leadership, or a related field, desired
Certification
  • No specific certification required
Experience
  • Experience in community relations, community engagement, public relations, nonprofit work, education, business development, or a related field, desired ? A demonstrated background of community service, relationship building, and leadership, desired ? Experience working with diverse community organizations and populations, desired ? Experience in an educational institution, desired
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent human relations and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with businesses, community organizations, alumni, families, volunteers, and other stakeholders
  • Demonstrated skill in organizing projects, events, partnerships, and community initiatives
