Advanced Practice Nursing and Physician Assistants - Job
- Join a collaborative team of OB/GYN physicians committed to delivering outstanding, evidence-based care.
- Practice in newly expanded, state-of-the-art Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) suites with 24 beds
- Level II NICU support on site
- Total practice delivery volume averages approximately 1,300 deliveries annually
- Provide full-scope midwifery care in both inpatient and outpatient settings
- Independently manage high-risk obstetrical cases while collaborating closely with OB/GYN physicians
- Perform vaginal births, laceration repairs, and serve as first surgical assist for cesarean sections and gynecologic surgeries
- Triage, assess, and manage emergent obstetric patients in collaboration with RNs and OB/GYNs
- Manage hospital labor assessments and admissions, including normal and abnormal labor
- Perform in-office procedures including IUDs, PAPs, Nexplanon insertion, EMB as needed
- Rotate with one other midwife to provide physician assistance, including labor support and surgical first assist coverage
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team including OB/GYNs, RNs, LCSWs, health coaches, lactation counselors, childbirth educators, and other specialists
- Two clinic locations, including one located on the hospital campus
- Benefit from on-site ultrasound availability at both clinic locations
- Nurse Triage Service serves as the first line for after-hours patient calls, managing routine OB/GYN questions
- Utilize a fully integrated Epic EMR system to enhance care coordination
- No call and a 4-day work week
- 10-hour shifts with flexibility
- No evenings, nights, weekends, or holidays
- High level of autonomy with strong physician collaboration
- Serve as primary clinical presence on Labor & Delivery, including in house coverage
- Provide inpatient, full-scope midwifery care on Labor & Delivery, including in-house clinical coverage
- Attend and manage labor and delivery, monitor fetal status, administer medications, and support patients through birth
- Perform vaginal deliveries and laceration repairs
- Serve as first surgical assist for cesarean sections and gynecologic procedures
- Triage and manage emergent obstetric patients in collaboration with OB/GYN physicians and nursing staff
- Manage labor assessments, admissions, and care for both normal and high-risk obstetrical patients
- Provide occasional outpatient clinic coverage to support continuity of care, including prenatal, postpartum, and women’s health visits
- Collaborate closely with OB/GYN physicians within a physician-led, team-based model to ensure safe, high-quality, evidence-based care
- Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM)
- Board Eligible or Board Certified
- Eligible for and able to obtain an unrestricted license to practice in the state of Iowa
- Current, unrestricted state and federal authority to prescribe and administer medications as appropriate to the scope of practice
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
