Overview
Naph Care is hiring LPN to join our team of medical professionals in Waterloo, IA
, where we manage all aspects of healthcare for individuals currently incarcerated in the Black Hawk County Jail
. As a Correctional Nurse
, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to residents in a controlled environment where security is a top priority. You will have various duties to keep you engaged, including performing physical assessments, administering medications, managing chronic illnesses, and responding to emergencies. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to a diverse population of patients with complex medical needs.

Responsibilities- Performing patient assessments, interviewing patients about current health problems and medication history
- Taking vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, and weight
- Providing wound care, including cleaning and bandaging injured areas
- Administering medication, including injections, and monitoring reactions to meds
- Maintaining medical records, including entering information into our electronic health record, Tech Care
- Observing patient health and mental health status
- Providing emergency first aid
- Providing patient education and discharge/release planning
- Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Actively state-certified as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
- Active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association preferred)
- Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Display integrity, professionalism, and the ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
