Nursing: Registered Nurse; Rn - Progressive Care Unit; Pcu - Travel

Position Overview

Travel Stepdown RN assignment for 13 weeks in Waterloo, Iowa with Fusion Medical Staffing.

• One year of recent experience as a Stepdown RN.
• Current valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
• Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) certification.

• Provide care to patients transitioning from intensive care to medical‑surgical or general inpatient units.
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and telemetry data to detect abnormalities.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments, with a focus on cardiac care.
• Prepare equipment and assist physicians during cardiac‑related procedures and examinations.
• Maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs of telemetry patients.
• Observe patients, record significant conditions and reactions, notify supervisor or physician of cardiac status and response to interventions.
• Respond to life‑saving situations based on nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols specific to cardiac emergencies.
• Document nursing history and physical assessment for assigned telemetry patients.
• Initiate patient education plans regarding cardiac health, risk factors, and lifestyle modifications.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care for telemetry patients.
• Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards.

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100 lbs), push, pull, and bend.
• Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.

• Capable of coping with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure.
• May work under close supervision occasionally and also work independently without assistance from other personnel.
• Must possess visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate.
