Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (Nights)

Waterloo, IA | Acute Care

Contract | Night Shift | Onsite

• Provide direct nursing care to post-operative surgical patients on a 28-bed Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Read and interpret telemetry strips and monitor patients via bedside monitoring equipment
• Manage cardiac and other drips including heparin, insulin, amiodarone, and cardizem
• Care for a diverse patient population including general, thoracic, vascular, urological, gynecological, orthopedic, and podiatric surgical patients
• Manage PCAs, epidurals, chest tubes, and continuous bladder irrigations (CBIs)
• Float to other like Med Surg units as needed, including behavioral health and ED

• Active Iowa RN license or compact / multistate license at time of submission
• BLS certification from AHA (American Heart Association) or ARC (American Red Cross) required
• Minimum 2 years of current Medical Surgical or post-operative care experience in a hospital setting
• Telemetry strip reading experience required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Experience with PCAs, epidurals, chest tubes, and CBIs required
• Must have completed at least one travel contract within the previous 12 months — first-time travelers will not be considered
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible (verified by driver's license)

• Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months
• Experience with a broad range of surgical patient types including thoracic, vascular, urological, gynecological, orthopedic, and podiatric

• Work in a state-of-the-art unit equipped with bedside monitors in every patient room to support high-quality patient care
• Gain experience across a diverse surgical patient population in a well-structured, supportive clinical environment
