Job Summary
The Donation Attendant is responsible for providing world‑class customer service to donors, safely receiving and sorting donations, maintaining an organized donation area, and ensuring all materials comply with company guidelines. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to safety, and the ability to follow established procedures accurately.
Duties and Responsibilities(Essential functions of the position are listed in bold print.)
- Responsible for traveling to assigned donation‑drive trailers to perform daily operations, including opening and closing procedures, collecting donated goods, and ensuring trailers remain clean, organized, and secure.
- Complete all required foundational training, including:
- Donation Door Training Video
- Demonstrating World‑Class Customer Service expectations
- Understanding and identifying items on the Do Not Accept list
- Following all safety expectations and protocols at the donation door
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized donation area:
- Ensure the donation door is free of clutter and the EXIT remains accessible at all times
- Prepare Blue Bins/Gaylords to receive incoming donations
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of overflow Gaylord procedures
- Execute donation receiving procedures accurately and professionally:
- Complete 10 perfect full donation audits as part of the GRATIS requirement
- Issue donation receipts to donors when requested
- Accurately complete the Donor Count Sheet
- Demonstrate proper receiving and handling procedures for furniture donations
- Correctly sort all incoming materials into hardlines and softlines
- Perform secondary duties as assigned to support donation operations

Work Environment Expectations- Exposure to Weather Conditions — Employees should expect to work in all seasonal weather, including heat, cold, rain, wind, and snow. Appropriate outdoor clothing and PPE must be worn at all times.
- Frequent Outdoor Activity — Duties may require standing, walking, lifting, and performing tasks outside for extended periods, sometimes on uneven ground or in remote trailer locations.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be willing to travel within our region.
- Must be willing to work weekends during high volume season.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
. Minimum of 2 years of any combination of military service, high school, or related full‑time employment may substitute. - Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Possess a positive attitude and infect others with similar enthusiasm.
- Must be able to lift, push, or pull fifty pounds with assistance.
- Loyalty to the agency and its mission and policies.
- Reliable transportation. Ability to work a flexible schedule at multiple locations including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be willing to obtain a forklift license if able.
- Ability to use good judgment, discretion, and initiative.
