Shift: 1st Shift
Schedule:
2-2-3, weekly rotating schedule
Hours:
7:00 AM to 7:30 PM (12-hour shifts). Work schedules may vary based on business need. Must be willing to work overtime or off-shift, as needed. This position works every other weekend.
Pay Rate: $39.80/hour. This position is also eligible for overtime pay and is paid weekly.
Job Responsibilities:
- This position is responsible for operation and maintenance of the ammonia refrigeration system, HCFC systems, hot water, air compressors, waste treatment operations, and their safe and efficient operation.
- Understands and works within the rules and standards of OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and EPA Risk Management Program (RMP).
- Works within a total team environment and must be able to effectively deal with team members of the management team, operations personnel, and contractors.
- Must have a foundational knowledge in troubleshooting and repair of mechanical electrical refrigeration and other systems under the areas of assigned responsibilities.
- Be willing to participate in training and skill development in all areas of responsibility and be self-motivated.
- Must be able to pass a HAZ-Mat physical and pass the training to be certified as an Emergency Responder Technician Level and participate on the Emergency Response Team
Requirements:
Education &
Certifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- RETA or IIAR ammonia refrigeration training preferred.
Experience & Technical Knowledge:
- 3+ years of industrial ammonia refrigeration and equipment room experience in a food plant preferred.
- Experience with A/C and refrigeration system operations and maintenance is a plus.
- Familiarity with industrial maintenance, electrical testing tools, and basic hand/power tools.
- Ability to read and understand equipment and system P IDs.
Computer
Skills:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Ability to learn and use Tyson's SAP-PM (Plant Maintenance) system.
Communication
Skills:
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.

- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.

Work Flexibility:
- Must be willing to work weekends, overtime, and in various areas as needed.
- Able to report to work on time and follow the assigned schedule.
Physical Requirements & Environment:
- Able to work at elevated levels and climb stairs frequently.
- Comfortable working in varying temperatures: hot (80–90°F) to cold (20–40°F), with wet/slippery conditions.
- Able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 60 lbs at different heights.
- Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching in all directions.
- Must be able to wear all required PPE: hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection, hairnet/beard guard, and boots.

Internal disqualifiers are the following:
- Must not have 4 or more attendance points for locations on an 8 point policy (on application date)
- No written warning in the past six (6) months
- No suspension on record for the last 12 months
This position is slated for candidates who are currently working at this facility. Priority consideration will be provided to these applicants first. If local Team Members are not selected, Team Members from other locations will then be reviewed for consideration.
