Automation Technician

Conagra Brands is seeking an Automation Technician to support high-speed food manufacturing operations. You will install, troubleshoot, and maintain PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and automated packaging systems to maximize uptime, safety, and product quality. Responsibilities include executing PM plans, assisting in equipment upgrades, reading electrical and control schematics, and documenting work in CMMS. You will collaborate closely with engineering, maintenance, and production teams, contribute ideas for continuous improvement, and support root-cause analysis to enhance line reliability and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, and repair PLC, HMI, VFD, and sensor-based control systems on production and packaging lines.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on automated equipment to minimize downtime.
• Read and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and control schematics to diagnose issues.
• Support commissioning and upgrades of automated machinery and control systems.
• Use CMMS to document work orders, parts usage, and equipment histories.
• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and production teams on root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Implement and support safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures on all automation work.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to increase reliability and line efficiency.
• Assist in training operations and maintenance personnel on proper use of automated equipment.
• Support off-shift or weekend coverage as needed to maintain production uptime.
