Required Certifications & Qualifications
* Associates Degree or equivalent credits, Four year degree of studies- any major- preferred
* Experience working with students with varying needs
Essential Skills, Knowledge Performance Abilities
* Experience teaching multilingual learners at the elementary/ secondary level
* Familiarity or experience working with elementary/secondary aged students
* Familiarity with LAS Links Testing and other instructional resources and assessments
Essential Performance Responsibilities
Watertown Public Schools is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual able to effectively increase English proficiency for multilingual learners and provide intervention and support with core content to students with various language barriers. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to:
* Establish positive relationships with students, parents and staff
* Complete daily assignments and all job related responsibilities with care, accuracy and in a timely fashion
* Collaborate with colleagues to appropriately differentiate elementary/middle school content for learners working to improve language facility
* Create a student-centered classroom which ensures that every child is increasing English proficiency and achieving academically
* Cultivate trusting and collaborative relationships with students, parents and colleagues
* Foster an environment where students self-advocate and proactively demonstrate positive social interactions, academic risk-taking and conflict-resolution skills
* Use knowledge of student development, the adopted curriculum/program and multiple student data sets to drive instructional decisions to address whole group, small group and individual strengths and areas of need
* Develop engaging and dynamic lesson plans with multiple student entry points to ensure high levels of engagement and learning for all students
* Maintain and actively utilize records of student progress to differentiate instruction and provide actionable feedback to students
* Use ongoing self-evaluation and reflection to identify areas for improvement, and take action to improve professional practice
