Education Part-Time Evening ESL Teacher

Watertown High School, 324 French St, Watertown, CT
Reports to:
Director of Adult Education
Part-Time: 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Mondays & Wednesdays
Salary: $33.10/hour
The position is open until filled – anticipated start date:
August 15, 2026
Provides high-quality English language instruction to adult learners, delivering standards-based lessons that promote English proficiency, workforce readiness, and successful achievement of students' educational and personal goals.
Major Responsibilities- Plan and deliver instruction aligned with English Language Proficiency (ELP) standards.
- Create a positive learning environment that is supportive and safe for all learners.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to engage learners and develop sound foundational skills and transferable speaking & literacy skills.
- Sensitive to the needs of adult learners aged 18+.
- Knowledge of a wide variety of strategies and linguistic supports to support instruction.
- Ability to use classroom technology such as a laptop, projector, and interactive board to enhance instruction.
- CT Certification #088 (Non-English Speaking Adults) is required.
- A bachelor's degree is required;
Bachelor's or Master's degree in education is preferred. - Demonstrated ability to work well with people from many different backgrounds and cultures.
- Experience teaching adult learners who speak multiple languages.
- Attuned to the specific learning needs of adult students.
