General Description: The Extended School Year (ESY) offers specialized instruction and related services to students beyond the regular school year. The position involves leading program activities, supervising instruction, and ensuring IEP goals and accommodations are met through the Summer Success Program. Responsibilities include managing staff, addressing parent and behavioral concerns, monitoring student progress, and collaborating with administrators to align the program with district goals.

- Teach groupings of special education students in grades 6-12
- Conduct whole group and/or small group literacy lessons either through small group or Summer Soar
- Conduct whole group and/or small group math lessons either through small group or Summer Soar
- Follow related IEP Goals and Accommodations
- Teach age-related social skills and functional behavior
- Teaching is focused on the prevention of skill regression
- Progress monitoring and reporting
- Experience working with elementary and/or secondary students (preferred)
- Experience collaborating with colleagues
- Experience reading IEPs
- Familiarity with best practices in literacy and math instruction
- Holds the belief that all children can learn
- Classroom management skills
- Ability to engage students in using all 4 domains: listening, reading, speaking, and writing
- Attend pre-program training
- Valid DESE licensure as Teacher of Students with Severe Disabilities or Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities preferred
- Experience working with students with a range of disabilities in a public school setting preferred
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required
