Playgroup Leader

Shift Type:
Part-time (2 days per week - 12 hours)
Report to: CFCE Grant Coordinator
Summary:
Watertown Public Schools seeks an exceptional Playgroup Leader who is highly qualified and knowledgeable to join our community of teachers, learners, and leaders. This is an exciting opportunity for teachers who desire to serve where their efforts matter.
- Assist the CFCE coordinator with development of early childhood programs that meet the condition of the CFCE Grant
- Assist the CFCE coordinator in the daily preparation and operation of the Family Center; (participating in the supervision of the Family Center or off-site locations)
- Assist in the maintenance and good repair of the areas (Family Center or off-site locations), including cleaning/sanitizing of materials.
- Assist in the implementation of the Ages and Stages Questionnaire, including parent communication and necessary record keeping
- Assist the CFCE Coordinator with community outreach collaborations that help raise awareness of the resources and services available at the site, as well as other local programs and agencies
- Support the extracurricular, after-hours outreach programs sponsored by the CFCE, as designated by the CFCE Coordinator
Skills:
- Experience working with diverse families and knowledge of their needs is preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills in the dominant home language of the families
- Ability to take independent initiative, while committing to collaboration
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to create and maintain strong community collaborations
- Some experience in developing and/or leading interactive workshops, and training
- Willingness to learn and apply new skills and content
- Deep knowledge and understanding of, and demonstrated ability to connect with the ethnic background of students and families served.
- Associate's Degree or documented training in Early Childhood Education or related field
- Knowledge/experience in curriculum development
- Knowledge/experience in classroom management in an early childhood setting
- Knowledge/experience in public and private preschool programs
- Knowledge/experience with center-based and family child care programs.
- Background/knowledge of early literacy
- Experience working with families of young children (ages 0-6)
- Sensitivity to children at different developmental levels
- Sensitivity to cultural diversity
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Bilingual
