Playgroup Facilitator & Network Connector
Watertown Public Schools seeks an exceptional Playgroup Facilitator & Network Connector who is highly qualified and knowledgeable to join our community of teachers, learners, and leaders. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who desires to serve where their efforts matter.
The Playgroup Facilitator & Network Connector will facilitate high-quality, developmentally appropriate playgroups that support children's learning, development, and social-emotional growth while strengthening connections with families and the broader community. This position will model positive parent-child interactions, provide families with practical strategies to support their children's development and behavior, and create welcoming opportunities for parents to build relationships and support networks.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and facilitate weekly playgroups, including specialized and targeted groups
- Develop new playgroup opportunities within expansion communities
- Plan weekly playgroup activities that support children's learning, development, and social-emotional growth
- Prepare and organize developmentally appropriate materials for playgroups
- Model positive parent-child interactions and effective strategies for supporting children's development and behavior
- Support families with Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQ), including parent communication and necessary follow-up
- Administer pre- and post-session family surveys
- Support parent participation and engagement in playgroup activities
- Model effective strategies for responding to challenging behaviors
- Build relationships with off-site community partners and identify developmentally appropriate spaces and community opportunities for families
- Coordinate monthly parent education and training opportunities
- Develop and distribute a weekly family newsletter
- Facilitate monthly Saturday family groups
- Connect families with community resources and support networks
- Assist with community outreach collaborations that help raise awareness of resources and services available to families
- Implement other EEC initiatives as needed and as designated by the CFCE Grant Coordinator
Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience working with young children and families is preferred
- Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills in the dominant home language of the families
- Ability to model positive parent-child interactions and provide practical strategies to families
- Ability to support families in addressing challenging behaviors
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Ability to take independent initiative while committing to collaboration
- Ability to create and maintain strong community collaborations
- Experience facilitating groups, workshops, or family education opportunities
- Willingness to learn and apply new skills and content
- Sensitivity to cultural diversity and the varied needs of children and families
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Bilingual preferred
