Extended Day Program Substitute Nurse
Part-time position in Community Education for Elementary Schools - Watertown Public Schools. Reports to the Director of Community Education. Schedule is flexible based on program needs, with shifts from 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm on regular school days and 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm on early release days. Pay rate is $44.34 per hour.
Watertown Community Education offers quality enrichment programs and courses for children, adults, and families. The Extended Day Program provides a safe, nurturing environment after school for children in PreK through Grade 5.
Responsibilities include providing nursing services to students, communicating with families, ensuring health plans are up-to-date, managing emergency medications, assisting with personal care tasks, maintaining logs, attending field trips, and flexibility to change school locations. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications include a BSN or RN license, experience as a school nurse preferred, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and experience with Type 1 Diabetes care. Physical demands include moving between school sites, frequent standing, walking, and sitting, occasional lifting, dexterity to perform medical procedures, and ability to respond quickly in emergencies.
Professional commitment includes availability on an on-call basis and participation in CPR/First Aid Certification and monthly Community Education Meetings.
