Position Summary:
Soufflé Therapeutics is growing its conjugation capabilities to enable state of the art conjugation methodologies to new ligand and payload modalities, expanding internal programs, and new collaborations. As a Scientist II in Protein Science – Conjugation, you'll add hands-on bioconjugation expertise to advance new conjugation methods and enable new molecular modalities across internal programs and external collaborations. If you want to help shape how a growing biotech builds its conjugation chemistry and purification capabilities, this role gives you real ownership from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Leverage knowledge of protein and conjugation chemistry to prepare novel bioconjugates for in vitro and in vivo studies.
- Lead conjugation work supporting internal programs and collaborations, from planning through execution.
- Drive conjugation chemistry research into new conjugation modalities, payloads, and conjugate formats.
- Perform characterization of conjugates using techniques such as SEC-HPLC, SDS-PAGE, and mass spectrometry.
- Represent the conjugation team in prioritization and cross-functional collaboration meetings.

You're independently executing conjugation experiments, and rigorously analyzing and interpreting data - In 12 months:
Your experimental work is making a measurable impact on company objectives – improving our conjugation process or enabling new payloads or workflows – and you know how to get things done across the organization
Qualifications — Required
- 6+ years of relevant experience (academic and industry combined)
- Hands-on experience with protein bioconjugation, particularly antibody-drug conjugates
- Hands-on experience with protein purification methods, such as affinity chromatography, ion exchange chromatography, and tangential flow filtration
- Proficiency in analytical techniques for characterizing proteins and protein conjugates, such as SEC-HPLC, IEX-HPLC, RP-HPLC, SDS-PAGE, and mass spectrometry
Qualifications — Preferred
- Experience optimizing chemical and enzymatic bioconjugation methods, including site‑specific conjugation
- Experience with multi‑gram‑scale bioconjugation and/or purification, and with HPLC method development, maintenance, and troubleshooting
Education
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, Bioengineering, or a related field with 6 years of experience or MS with 6-10 years of industry experience with conjugation OR a BS with 10+ years' experience
