Scope & General PurposeThe position of Assistant General Manager requires the ambition to oversee all hospitality operations, and drive to create and implement systems, efficiencies and great guest relations in the FOH. This role focuses specifically on team leadership and development of FOH staff and is responsible for management of day-to-day systems such as hiring, scheduling, competent bar ordering, with a strong focus on hospitality, guest experience and strategic guest recovery.

Management StructureReports to General Manager
Core Management Responsibilities, As Executed By The BL Team- Update and print menus, adjusting all digital platforms to reflect current menu offerings
- Program Toast, Doordash accordingly
- Review and adjust Open Table in alignment with business volume
- Make floor maps, adjust staffing thoughtfully
- Order restaurant supplies as needed based on breakage and business volume
- Follow all established food safety, alcohol service, health code, and cleanliness practices
- Strive for meaningful connections and experiences with guests and staff to create repeat business and staff retention
- Lead daily briefing, advocating for guest experience, education & important notes
- Act as supportive liaison between front and back of house staff before and during service to communicate necessary information required for smooth and efficient service
- Supervise and support all facets of Branch Line service, including in‑person dining, delivery, takeout, patio service + private events
- Contribute to nightly management log, used to continually refine operations and guest experience

- Interview potential new Branch Line team members, utilizing the other member of the management team to make sure the restaurant is continually staffed with a diverse staff that meets the expectations for BL service
- Oversee position specific training programs that deliver maximum impact to team and guest experience
- Make sure that all new employees are onboarded correctly, with complete new hire onboarding in Toast Payroll, as well as lead thoughtful and thorough staff orientations for all new team members
- Write weekly schedule for the server & bar teams, posting by Saturday for the second week ahead of us
- Produce continuing education for front of house employees, reflecting Branch Line brand, food & beverage programs
- Develop opportunities for employees to grow and develop at Branch Line, across service, product and overall hospitality skill set
- Regularly coach all Branch Line staff, reflecting and enforcing standards for guest service, care of restaurant space and execution of responsibilities
- Act as a key member of the management team, influencing restaurant operations, both financial and cultural, with a full restaurant focus
- Directly support the General Manager’s agenda for business growth and development, acting as decision maker and leader in their absence
- Participate in the onboarding, training and overall success of new managers, in partnership with the General Manager
- Follow all HR best practices connected to hiring, training, development, performance management, and discipline & termination; and provide prompt and detailed documentation as needed
