Child Care Resource Center

JOB LOCATION:

POSITION GRADE: 5

WORK HOURS PER WEEK: 35

EMPLOYMENT STATUS:
Full-time Regular Non-Exempt

SALARY: $18.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Registrar is responsible for ensuring compliance with OCFS regulations in Family Day Care homes and School Age Child Care Programs in Jefferson and Lewis Counties. The activities include, but are not limited to, conducting inspections, reviewing documentation, and maintaining CCFS database for the Registration programs. The Registrar will provide support to child care programs through on-site technical assistance, and will contribute to the JLCP vision of ensuring that the community has access to and support for high-quality child care.

THE MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Schedule, complete, and document inspections as assigned and required by contract.
  • Identify and recruit new providers through departmental communication and community contact.
  • Identify provider needs and offer technical assistance or refer to Provider Services programs.
  • Demonstrate Department commitment to equity, diversity, and community engagement.
  • Enter notes and inspection details into CCFS promptly and completely.
  • Attend workshops and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills, and apply.
  • Participate actively in the work of the CCRC team: including outreach and education.
  • Submit calendars, schedules, and other items to meet department and Agency standards.
  • Handle other duties as may be assigned by the Program Director.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to provide independent transportation to perform job duties when Department vehicle is unavailable. Employee must maintain throughout employment a valid driver's license free from infractions.
  • Preference is given to qualified in-house candidates.
  • Must have medical insurance or will be required to utilize Agency Fringe Benefit for health insurance coverage.
  • Community Action is a substance-free workplace. If required, employee must pass post accident, and reasonable suspicion drug testing.

REQUIRED

EDUCATION:

Associate Degree in business early childhood education or human services required. Bachelors in business, early childhood or human services preferred. An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered.

CERTIFICATES OR LICENSES:
Valid driver's license required.

REQUIRED

WORK EXPERIENCE:

1-3 years of experience in an office or regulated childcare setting required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed inside in a regular office environment and in child care programs.

TRAVEL:
Requires frequent and/or daily independent travel to off-site locations during normal work hours. There is occasional overnight and weekend travel. Travel is regional.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None.

COMPUTER

SKILLS:

Basic computer skills that include the ability to send and receive emails, post information to a database or spreadsheet and basic word processing, bookkeeping, and/or data entry; plus, the ability to create spreadsheets, graphics, and reports using standard software applications. Computer software includes Microsoft Word and Excel, and CCFS.

EQUIPMENT USED:
Computer, printer, telephone, scanner, calculator, fax.

MENTAL AND VISUAL DEMANDS:
Requires close mental and visual ability and attention to perform job duties. A majority of the assigned tasks require entering, comparing, and transferring data in the computer databases for the relevant contract.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
Able to be non-judgmental in working with low-income families, work as part of a team, able to complete tasks independently, maintain a professional appearance in manner and attire when dealing with coworkers, clients and the general public. Must be able to pass satisfactory background clearance, maintain confidentiality of program and agency related business.
