Head Start Classroom Aide

Your Mission

As a Classroom Aide in Watertown, SD, you’ll help the teacher keep learning moving and every child supported—so the classroom stays safe, welcoming, and full of momentum.

• Support children one-on-one or in small groups with lesson activities to introduce or strengthen learning concepts
• Help ensure the care, safety, and well‑being of all children in the group
• Encourage healthy physical, social, and emotional growth by honouring individual differences, diversity, and cultural backgrounds
• Tidy and sanitize the classroom, learning areas, toys, and equipment; clean the bathroom as needed
• Assist the Cook when requested

• High school diploma or GED
• One (1) year of experience and/or training working with children (preschool or infant/toddler experience preferred)

Your morning kicks off with warm greetings and quick classroom prep as the space comes alive. You’ll move with the rhythm of the day—helping little learners transition between activities, sharing encouragement, and keeping the environment calm and ready for discovery. Midday brings teamwork: resetting areas, pitching in where needed, and keeping things organized so the class stays on track. By afternoon, you’re wrapping up with clean‑up, last check‑ins, and that satisfying feeling that the room is set for tomorrow’s wins.

Pay Range: $13.66–$19.28/hour.
