Position SummaryThe Commercial Relationship Manager is an intermediate-level commercial banking role supporting business development, portfolio management, and complex credit activities. This role aims to generate quality earnings through interest income growth, margin management, credit quality, and non-interest income. The position maintains an average loan portfolio of $20M to $50M, manages at least 50 bank relationships, and targets at least $1.1M in revenue for the bank.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Achieves individual annual production and growth goals for loans, deposits and fees to meet financial targets and credit terms.
- Initiates and develops new business through outside development activities; maintains ongoing contact with new clients to enhance their experience.
- Develops an in-depth understanding of clients' needs through reviews and meetings; uses internal sourcing software to generate leads and referrals.
- Participates in community organizations to source business development opportunities; builds referral pipelines.
- Maintains knowledge of products/services and competitive offerings; promotes bank solutions to meet client needs.
- Coordinates cross-functional teams to respond to client requests and identifies cross-sell opportunities.
- Analyzes credit to determine borrowing qualifications; assumes accountability for portfolio activities, including underwriting and portfolio management; ensures asset quality and compliance with procedures.
- Maintains follow-up on existing loans to ensure compliance with terms; researches industry and economic conditions relevant to the business.
- Ensures compliance with all bank regulations and completes required training; supports the bank’s mission, vision, and values.
Skills and Abilities
- Advanced credit analysis and commercial underwriting, including financial statement and cash flow analysis.
- Strong knowledge of commercial lending policies, procedures, and documentation; understanding of risk-rating systems and credit products.
- Ability to structure credit products for small and medium-sized businesses; effective written and verbal communication; strong presentation skills.
- Team-oriented, with the ability to manage relationships across the organization.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook;
PowerPoint is beneficial; ability to prioritize and work under pressure.
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or related field required. 4-6 years of experience in commercial lending or commercial credit underwriting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands and Working EnvironmentThe physical demands and working environment are representative of those that must be met to perform essential job functions. Dexterity to operate computer equipment; frequently sit; standing and noise levels are moderate. Typical work hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. Regular and predictable attendance required. Travel as needed.
