Watertown Healthcare Center is seeking a compassionate, organized, and creative Activities Director to lead and coordinate engaging recreational and social programs for our long‑term care residents. This role is vital in promoting residents’ physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well‑being while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
EssentialJob Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, and implement a comprehensive activity program that meets residents’ individual interests, abilities, and care plans
- Conduct resident assessments and maintain accurate documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Coordinate group and one‑on‑one activities, including social, recreational, educational, and therapeutic programs
- Develop and manage monthly activity calendars
- Encourage resident participation and foster a welcoming, inclusive environment
- Supervise and train activity staff and volunteers (if applicable)
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, families, and community partners
- Organize special events, holiday celebrations, and outings
- Ensure compliance with state, federal, and facility regulations (CMS, F‑Tags, etc.)
- Maintain supplies, equipment, and activity budgets
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
- Certification or eligibility as an Activity Director (per state requirements) preferred
- Prior experience in long‑term care, assisted living, or healthcare activities strongly preferred
- Knowledge of resident‑centered care and dementia‑friendly programming
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to document accurately and meet regulatory standards
- Compassionate, patient, and creative approach to resident care
