Job Summary
Watertown Healthcare Center is seeking an experienced and motivated Director of Rehabilitation (DOR) to lead and oversee the daily operations of the rehabilitation department within our long-term care facility. The Director of Rehabilitation is responsible for managing therapy services, supervising rehabilitation staff, ensuring high-quality resident care, and maintaining compliance with all regulatory and documentation requirements.
The ideal candidate is a strong clinical leader who is passionate about improving resident outcomes through coordinated therapy services including physical, occupational, and speech therapy.

Job Duties
Department Leadership
- Direct and oversee the daily operations of the rehabilitation department.
- Supervise and support therapy staff including Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, therapy assistants, and rehabilitation aides.
- Develop staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage and efficient operations.
- Ensure therapy services are delivered in accordance with physician orders, care plans, and professional standards.
- Monitor resident progress and therapy outcomes.
- Participate in interdisciplinary care plan meetings and collaborate with nursing, social services, and medical staff.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations governing therapy services.
- Monitor documentation for accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance.
- Assist with regulatory surveys and audits.
- Develop and implement rehabilitation programs that support resident recovery, mobility, and quality of life.
- Identify opportunities to improve therapy outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Promote restorative and wellness-based therapy programs.
- Manage departmental productivity and operational performance.
- Maintain therapy equipment and ensure proper use of rehabilitation resources.
- Assist with hiring, training, mentoring, and evaluating therapy staff.
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech-Language Pathology program.
- Current state license as a Physical Therapist (PT), Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA), Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA), Occupational Therapist (OT), or Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
- Minimum 2–3 years of clinical therapy experience, preferably in long-term care or skilled nursing.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities
- Knowledge of skilled nursing and long-term care regulations
- Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
- Strong organizational and documentation oversight skills
