Staff Accountant

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations in Waterville, Maine. This is a contract position suited for a detail-oriented candidate who can manage core financial tasks with accuracy and consistency. The role will contribute to maintaining reliable records, supporting month-end activities, and assisting with both payables and receivables as business needs evolve.

Responsibilities:

• Record and post journal entries to maintain accurate financial data across accounting periods.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to ensure reporting accuracy.
• Process vendor invoices, prepare payments, and monitor outstanding obligations in a timely manner.
• Generate customer invoices, track incoming payments, and follow up on open balances when needed.
• Assist with month-end close activities, including account analysis and supporting documentation.
• Maintain organized financial records and help ensure accounting documentation is complete and audit-ready.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to address transaction issues and improve day-to-day accounting workflows.
• Provide flexible support across accounting functions, including duties that may align with accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general staff accounting needs.
