Maine Children’s Home is looking for a reliable, hands-on Program/Project Assistant to support key areas of our work—including donor services, volunteerism, administration, and the Christmas/Winter Essentials program. This position is cross-departmental in office and light warehouse settings and is perfect for someone who loves variety, enjoys both administrative and physical tasks, and wants to make a difference in a local, community-centered organization.
As part of the Advancement Team, reporting to the Director of Advancement,you’ll:
- Provide excellent customer service to all volunteers, donors, and clients and participants who connect with Maine Children’s Home, whether in person (on campus, at events, and in the community), by phone, or through correspondence
- Assist the Advancement Services Manager by entering donation and donor information in our database system and processing thank-yous
- Tackle a mix of behind-the-scenes and hands-on work with professionalism and care
- Support the Director of Advancement with administrative tasks such as scheduling, meeting preparation, filing, data management upkeep, and communications
- Support organization event planning,logistics, and follow-up
- As part of the Christmas/Winter Essentials Team, reporting to the Program Director,you’ll:
- Assist the Christmas/Winter Essentials (C/WE) Program Director with application and gift intake, inventory organization, recipient communication, volunteers, and program flow
- Support the C/WE Program Director and manage program flow if they are absent
- Move and sort boxes and bags of new clothing and essentials; work alongside volunteers and staff for inventory/gift intake and care package filling, organization, and distribution
- Assistin executing volunteer-related tasks like recruitment, records, and outreach
- Experience in administrative, customer service, project logistics, and/or social services work
- Detail-oriented and highly tech-comfortable,including with Microsoft Office. Must have typing/keyboarding and computer skills, not only tablet or smartphone skills
- Attention to detail, good spelling and punctuation, and ability tomaintainconfidentiality
- Friendly, adaptable, and dependable with strong team orientation
- Passion for community work and a willingness to pitch in wherever needed
- Excited to be part of a team that makes a real impact every day
- Must be able to regularly lift and move items of up to 30 lb. as part of essential job duties
- Must be able to regularly navigate stairs, including while carrying items
- Must be able to use a computer, tablet, and phone effectively
- Must be able to communicate clearly via phone, written communication, and in person
- Must be able to regularly engage in moderate sitting, standing, walking, and reaching
Position Type:
Non-Exempt,Full-Time (35-40 hours/week; will include some evenings or Saturdays in busy season, scheduled in advance)
Compensation:starting at $20/hour, plus employee benefits
