Children's Discovery Museum Part Time Front Desk Staff

Position Description

The Children’s Discovery Museum is looking to hire a friendly, dependable front desk staff person to work at the museum. The work day will include managing the front desk, engaging with guests at the museum, overseeing the experience on the exhibit floor, and helping to maintain a clean and organized environment. This position is expected to maintain a high level of enthusiasm, respectfulness, and readiness to offer assistance or answer inquiries.

• Open and close Museum, including cleaning and preparing the exhibit hall for guests
• Greet visitors, charge admission fees, sell Annual Memberships and tickets to upcoming events, and answer questions, as needed
• Communicate with visitors regarding daily events, special programming, groups, birthdays and other information
• Keep front desk, information tables and lobby neat, clean and well organized
• Engage with visitors throughout the museum exhibits and promote memorable play experiences
• Occasionally facilitate art or STEM activities for museum visitors
• Assist with setting up birthday parties or other events
• Reset and clean the Museum throughout the day to provide a fresh and engaging play space for visitors
• Work as a team with other staff to ensure a clean and safe environment
• Other duties as requested

• Customer service, retail and/or cash register experience preferred
• Strong verbal communication skills
• The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
• Experience working with children preferred
• Given the dynamic nature of museum environments, candidates should be flexible and easily adaptable to changing circumstances
• Dependability is a requirement
