The Waterville School District is seeking an outstanding, certified Teacher for Waterville Senior High School’s Bridge Program for the remainder of the year. Qualifications include a commitment to student learning, strong communication skills, the ability to build positive educational relationships with students.
The city of Waterville is located on the banks of the Kennebec River and is easily accessible from two exits off I-95 as well as Route 201. Long-Term Sub Information- Inspired by the Two-Cent Bridge in Waterville, The Bridge Alternative High School Program exists to guide students from where they are to where they aspire to be. Just as the historic bridge connected communities across the Kennebec River, our program provides a flexible, supportive pathway from high school to each student’s future. We are committed to meeting students where they stand—especially those navigating uncertainty, change, or personal challenges—and offering the structure, adaptability, and encouragement they need to move forward with confidence.
Through strong relationships, mentorship, and a collaborative learning environment, we foster resilience, growth, and a sense of belonging. By connecting students to opportunity, community, and purpose, we empower them to cross obstacles, discover their strengths, and build foundations for lifelong success.
- Teach a diverse variety of courses that include history, math, and independent living.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including those with IEPs or 504 plans.
- Collaborate with the 4 other Bridge Program teachers to plan, assess, and reflect on instruction.
- Maintain regular communication with families and staff regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Create a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel safe and valued.
- Hold a valid Maine Department of Education certification.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
