Grade 6 Social Studies Teacher – Waterville Junior High School

• Teach social studies to Grade 6 students.
• Foster inquiry-based learning through hands‑on activities, discussions, and real‑world connections.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including multilingual students and those with IEPs or 504 plans.
• Collaborate with colleagues to plan, assess, and reflect on instruction.
• Maintain regular communication with families and staff regarding student progress and classroom activities.
• Create a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel safe and valued.

• Valid Maine Department of Education certification (Elementary Teacher, 020 or appropriate endorsement for middle‑level social studies).
• Strong knowledge of social studies content and instructional best practices for middle school learners.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Willingness to collaborate with grade‑level and content‑area teams.
• A passion for working with early adolescents in a supportive and inclusive school culture.
