Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide regular in-service and training for teachers and educational technician 3.
  • Assist teachers in assessing students’ math skills and implementing a broad range of assessment tools.
  • Assist teachers in developing students’ instructional programs and encourage reflection and discussion of what is working, what is not working, and how to make improvements.
  • Work in cooperation with other system math curriculum leaders, special educational personnel, and school/system administration.
  • Collect information on student achievement in math using system software and computer technology.
  • Organize, analyze and interpret student math assessment data.
  • Maintain an active personal learning program for keeping abreast of current research, programs, and practices for math instruction and assessment.
  • Provide regular communications (newsletter, presentations, distribution of relevant articles, etc.) to classroom teachers, parents, and the community regarding system math initiatives, special activities, etc.
  • Coordinate the implementation of a sound and coherent K-5 mathematics curriculum.
  • Assist teachers in using rich and challenging problems and activities that integrate mathematics into other disciplines and the content of other disciplines into mathematics.
  • Guide the ongoing review and revision of the curriculum and ensure alignment with national, state and local guidelines.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned by administration.
Qualifications
  • State Certification as a K-8 Teacher. Maine DOE 286 or 282
  • Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignments.
  • Master’s Degree in Education, preferred
  • Successful prior special education teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
  • Organizational skills, ability to implement positive behavioral supports, and ability to work cooperatively with others.
