The Communications Coordinator supports the execution of the Museum's communications and marketing strategy by coordinating content production, managing communications platforms, and ensuring the timely delivery of communications across multiple channels. Reporting to the Communications Manager, this position collaborates with colleagues throughout the Museum and across the College to promote exhibitions, public programs, collections, and institutional initiatives. The Communications Coordinator manages the day-to-day communications operations, maintains digital content, coordinates production schedules, and assists with media relations, marketing materials, and communications analytics.
This position plays a critical role in maintaining consistent, accurate, and engaging communications that advance the Museum's mission and strategic priorities.
The hiring range for this position is $19.23 - $24.00 per hour.
Essential Functions Digital Communication and Website Management (25%)Maintain and update the Museum website, ensuring content is current, accurate, and aligned with institutional standards. Coordinate website updates for exhibitions, public programs, collections, events, and institutional initiatives. Collaborate with internal and external partners on content management system (CMS) projects and enhancements. Conduct routine quality assurance reviews of digital content. Manage and update the Museum's Bloomberg Connects guide and external organizational profiles.
Submit Museum events and programs to community calendars and promotional listings.
Develop, schedule, and publish social media content in collaboration with the Mirken Fellow and Museum staff. Coordinate the collection of content, photography, and digital assets across Museum departments. Monitor audience engagement and respond or elevate inquiries as appropriate. Manage paid social media promotions within established budgets. Track engagement metrics and prepare summary reports.
Email Marketing and Communications Content (15%)Maintain email marketing distribution lists through ongoing database management and imports. Coordinate production of dedicated email campaigns in partnership with Museum departments. Track project progress and facilitate communication among project stakeholders. Support efficient communications workflows and operational processes.
Communication Operations and Project Coordination (15%)Maintain communications calendars and project schedules. Coordinate timelines and deliverables for communications initiatives across Museum departments. Track project progress and facilitate communication among project stakeholders. Support efficient communication workflows and operational processes.
Marketing Materials and Vendor Coordination (10%)Coordinate production of print and digital marketing materials. Serve as liaison with graphic designers, printers, photographers, and other external vendors. Monitor project timelines, approvals, and production schedules. Ensure marketing materials meet institutional branding standards.
Media Relations and Communication Support (10%)Maintain media contact databases and press distribution lists. Assist in preparing press releases, media advisories, media kits, and institutional announcements. Coordinate logistics for media interviews, visits, and public events. Represent the Museum during communications activities, as appropriate.
Student Supervision and Analytics (5%)Assist in supervising and mentoring the Museum's summer communications intern. Collect and analyze communications metrics across website, email marketing, social media, and Bloomberg Connects. Prepare regular reports to support evaluation of communications effectiveness and future planning.
Position QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Graphic Design, Art History, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
