Requirements
  • Must possess a current, unencumbered license to practice LPN in the state of Maine.
  • Must be physically able to do the job effectively for your scheduled shift.
  • Must be able to work independently and possess leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively to all persons surrounding the quality of life of each of your residents.
Professionalism
  • An excellent attendance record is required. In order to ensure quality care to our residents your presence is required.
  • If you are to be absent or late, ample notice must be given to your delegated unit.
  • You may at times be required to stay later than your scheduled shift or float to another unit depending on the needs of our residents.
  • At least a 2-hour notice of being absent is required before your scheduled shift.
  • Be an excellent role model for all staff.
  • Be here on your scheduled shifts, on time and dressed appropriately for your job.
  • Be willing to give constructive criticism when you feel it is necessary.
  • Be willing to stand up for our policies and procedures regarding smoking, cell phones and all others that are in place and hold staff accountable for these policies.
  • Maintain resident and staff confidentiality at all times.
  • Be willing and able to multi-task. Do not be quick with the idea that, “this is not my job.” If in any way an outcome will affect a resident, we are a team and that mindset must always be in the forefront of your mind.
  • Maintain professional boundaries at all times with all aspects of a residents care.
  • Be cordial with families and outside disciplines.
Duties
  • Direct nursing care with excellence in assessment skills, identification of potential problems, collaborating with disciplines, administering treatment and evaluating outcomes.
  • Report all significant changes of resident condition to primary care physicians and residents families and/or designated POA’s and guardian’s in a timely manner.
  • Report to oncoming shifts completely and concisely with outlined detail with what needs to be followed through.
  • Identify areas of concern that need to be communicated to your nursing supervisor or Director of Nursing.
  • Documentation of nursing notes must be complete, concise, informative and descriptive and reflect a resident’s condition.
  • Overview of all nursing support care to ensure that it is done adequately and according to resident choice and wishes.
