ECC is seeking a motivated and experienced Retail Operations Manager to help lead daily operations at our Waterville Adult Use Cannabis dispensary. This leadership position partners closely with the Store Manager and Director of Retai; to drive operational excellence, maintain strict regulatory compliance, develop high-performing team members, and deliver an exceptional customer experience.

This position serves as a key member of the store leadership team and assumes responsibility for store operations in the Retail Manager's absence. This role requires strong leadership, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to balance customer service, compliance, inventory management, and team development in a fast-paced retail environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Development

Support the Retail Manager in overseeing daily dispensary operations and ensuring company standards are consistently met.

Lead by example, fostering a positive, professional, and customer-focused culture.

Coach, train, and develop Retail Associates through ongoing feedback, and hands‑on support.

Assist with onboarding and training new team members.

Help identify opportunities to improve team performance, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Assist with employee scheduling, shift coverage, and labor planning as needed.

Support performance reviews, coaching conversations, corrective actions, and employee development initiatives.

Customer Experience

Deliver exceptional customer service while ensuring every guest receives a welcoming, educational, and compliant experience.

Serve as a resource for associates by addressing customer concerns, resolving escalated issues, and supporting complex transactions.

Promote product knowledge and educate customers on cannabis products, consumption methods, and responsible use.

Maintain a sales‑focused environment while supporting team goals and business objectives.

Compliance & Operations

Ensure compliance with all Maine Office of Cannabis Policy (OCP) regulations, company policies, and security requirements.

Monitor daily operations to ensure adherence to inventory, cash handling, , and transaction procedures.

Serve as a compliance role model and proactively address operational or regulatory concerns.

Assist with audits, inspections, incident reporting, and compliance‑related documentation.

Inventory & Merchandising

Receive, verify, and reconcile inventory deliveries from cannabis and non‑cannabis vendors.

Assist with inventory counts, cycle counts, investigations, and discrepancy resolution.

Maintain accurate inventory records and support inventory control initiatives.

Ensure products are properly displayed, merchandised, and stocked according to company standards.

Monitor inventory levels and communicate ordering needs or concerns to leadership.

Cash Management & Store Administration

Perform opening and closing procedures, including cash reconciliation, register audits, and daily reporting.

Support cash handling controls and loss prevention efforts.

Assist with maintaining store documentation, logs, menus, displays, and operational records.

Help ensure the dispensary remains clean, organized, secure, and prepared for daily operations.

Qualifications

Previous retail leadership experience required; supervisory or management experience strongly preferred.

Cannabis industry experience preferred but not required.

Strong understanding of customer service, team leadership, and retail operations.

Ability to coach, motivate, and hold team members accountable.

Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.

High attention to detail and commitment to regulatory compliance.

Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.

Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Maine Individual Identification Card (IIC).

Schedule & Availability

Full‑time position.

Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Weekend availability is required.

Must be able to support opening, closing, and peak business shifts as needed.
