The Waterville Public School System serves over 2,000 students of all ages in and near Waterville, Maine. We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Bus Driver to provide daily transportation for students. The ideal candidate will maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment while following all transportation regulations and schedules. This position plays an important role in ensuring students arrive at school and return home safely each day.
The city of Waterville is located on the banks of the Kennebec River and is easily accessible from two exits off I-95 as well as Route 201. - Obeys all state and local traffic laws. This includes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
- Discharges students only at authorized stops.
- Transports only authorized students.
- Treats students with due respect and understanding.
- Adheres to all Waterville Board of Education policies.
- Maintains discipline when students are on bus and reports undisciplined students to the proper authority.
- Keeps to assigned schedule.
- Checks bus before each operation for mechanical and electrical defects, and notifies the Director of Transportation if repairs are needed.
- Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
- Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips.
- Enforces regulations against smoking and eating on the bus.
- Performs other duties as may be deemed by the Director of Transportation and Supt. of Schools.
- Be 21 years of age
- Have a valid class C driver license (Some candidates may be eligible for assistance with Training and obtaining a CDL)
- Be able to pass a DOT physical, drug test, and BMV- required check of driving history.
- Be able to pass a state of Maine DOE criminal history record check with fingerprinting.
