At Ian Williams, our Watford Painting team now have an exciting opportunity for a Working Foreperson (formerly known as Foreman/Forewoman) to undertake the responsibility of organising, supervising, and providing continuous support to a team of Painters operating in the surrounding areas.
Our teams deliver essential internal and external decorating projects within residential, commercial and educational settings across the local and surrounding areas. We welcome talking to ‘hands on’ Forepersons(formerly known as Foreman/ Forewoman) who enjoy leading by example and can successfully encourage and motivate a direct trade workforce.

Working on the tools, whilst maintaining the supervision of a directly employed trades team, the site and labour allocation within residential properties, as well as commercial and educational settings on occasion too.
The daily management of team productivity, the regular reporting of this and job completion information communicated to the Contracts Manager
- Health and Safety reporting – you will complete on-site welfare checks including monitoring safe ways of working, PPE, van, and tool/equipment inspections
- The delivery of regular toolbox talks
- Pre work inspections, setups and post inspections of works completed
- We welcome applications from experienced Painters, who have a proven track record managing projects
- Qualified to a minimum NVQ 2 level or equivalent in a core trade
- Experience of supervising sites/projects successfully within a painting or similar setting would be advantageous
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Possession of a full current UK Driving licence, which is essential to undertake the Working Foreperson role
