DESCRIPTION: Under the general supervision of the Director of Finance, the Staff Accountant provides support with general ledger activities, month and year-end closings, reconciliation of bank accounts, assists with monthly revenue and expense variance analysis and provides back up support for all roles of the Finance Department; reviews Payroll records to ensure accuracy in all aspects of the biweekly processing of SPLG's payroll;
cross-trains in various finance and accounting functions within the Finance Department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Accounting or payroll principles, practices and standards.
- Proficient use of Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Financial or payroll spreadsheets.
- Financial or payroll analysis.
- Accounting/Payroll month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Attention to detail.
- Related federal, state and local codes, laws and regulations.
- Think critically.
- Analyze complex issues comprehensively.
- Reconcile payroll transactions.
- Interpret and apply applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
- Meet strict deadlines.
- Work independently in the absence of a supervisor.
- Organize work and prioritize competing demands.
- Manage time efficiently.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive and protected information.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least two (2) years of full-cycle accounting or payroll experience.
- Possession of a valid CA Driver's License and current vehicle insurance; must be able to travel between sites and other places.
- Experience working with MIP accounting software or similar programs.
- Experience working with Paylocity, or similar payroll software system.
- Experience working in the health care industry, preferably within an FQHC.
- College degree with major coursework in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
- Bilingual/biliterate in English and Spanish.
Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment with extensive interpersonal contact and frequent interruptions. Physical demands include sufficient ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to extensively operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard;
and to verbally communicate to exchange information; see in the normal visual range with or without correction; hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
SALARY
Wage: $25.94 - $31.53 an hour.

Additional Information:
- Employees on temporary assignments are eligible for holiday pay and California sick pay, both pro-rated based on hours worked.
