Job Summary
The Director of Financial Planning & Analysis plays a key role in supporting the financial planning and analysis for Watsonville Community Hospital. This position will report to the CFO. This position will oversee all budgeting and forecasting functions, internal and external financial reporting, coordination of internal financial data needs to support service line reporting, revenue cycle, grant reporting and external financial covenants.
The Director will manage tracking of key strategic initiatives in alignment with organizational goals. The candidate builds trusted relationships with key stakeholders in Finance, Accounting, and Operations.
- Independently leadsthe financial and operational reporting for Watsonville Community Hospital closely collaborating with C-Suite leaders.
- Responsible for providing timely, accurate and meaningful data reporting and analysis to support the management of the Hospital and Healthcare District.
- Lead annual budget process including development and tracking of service lines, revenue cycle, labor management, supply chain, utilization, and cost and efficiency initiatives.
- Assist CFO with varying ad-hoc analysis.
- Create Board of Directors and Finance Committee reporting package and presentation materials
- Responsible for debt covenant tracking and reporting including monthly financial KPl's.
- Prepare ad-hoc analysis to facilitate executive decision making on profitability analysis of business lines, investment planning, key performance indicators, and financial analysis.
- Drive continuous improvement and effectively leverage data to improve performance.
- Assists the Controller and Revenue Cycle Director with financial, clinical, and operational analyses, including macro and micro views of revenue, cost and utilization drivers, including root cause analyses.
- Conduct analyses and effectively present data to key stakeholders (internally and externally) regarding financial and clinical outcomes, supporting a decision process strengthened by data analytics.
- Effectively collaborate within the organization to distill information into key actionable items supporting goals and objectives.
- Maintain and establish a level of support understanding between and among departments (Finance, IT, Revenue Integrity, Clinical Leadership, and fixed Operations) regarding clinical and business analytics
- Improve organizational business logic and validate data sources; ensure timely creation of management reports; ensure data integrity
- Contribute to data governance processes;
This includes defining data definitions, standardizing metrics, reporting conventions, and analysis priorities. - Provide recommendations regarding upgrades, additions, and improvements to Business Intelligence (BI) tools
- Identify, track, analyze and report performance measurements and benchmarking of business operations in relation to best business practices for the healthcare service industry and internal business objectives
- Lead and facilitate multi-departmental projects by providing direction for project framing, organization, success measurement, business case analysis, implementation and outcome measurement. (project management)
- Identify issues, trends, and opportunities to improve efficiency and quality. Including enhanced department assistance, as well as general departmental questions/concerns; provide supporting analysis and recommendations
- Attend off-site meetings and professional development events (where financially feasible)
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned
- Advanced experience working with large databases and manipulating large sets of data
- Ability to understand healthcare and managed care end-to-end processes, data, systems, and applications for claims payment, enrollment, benefit design, product pricing, network and provider contracting, and medical management.
