Job Summary
The Parts Room Operations Lead coordinates daily workflow in the Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) storeroom, ensuring inventory accuracy, material availability, and efficient procurement processes. This role serves as a key resource for parts room staff — guiding daily priorities, training employees on standard procedures, and promoting consistent use of the CMMS/EAM system. Working closely with Maintenance, Production Planning, Purchasing, Accounts Payable, and external vendors.
The Parts Room Operations Lead helps strengthen inventory controls, improve parts availability, and drive continuous improvement across storeroom operations.
Job Functions
- Storeroom Operations — Support daily parts room activities, including receiving, issuing, organizing, and maintaining MRO materials, while supporting material flow and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Inventory Control — Maintain accurate inventory records, bin locations, part descriptions, and stock identification, ensuring timely updates within CMMS/EAM.
- Critical Spares Support — Monitor inventory levels and help maintain availability of critical spare parts needed for maintenance and production operations.
- Cycle Counts & Audits — Lead cycle counts and inventory audits, researching discrepancies and updating records to maintain high accuracy and compliance standards.
- Daily Operations Leadership — Help guide daily parts room priorities, coordinate coverage planning, and answer process questions to keep staff working safely, accurately, and in line with company standards.
- Training Support — Train employees on parts room procedures, inventory practices, procurement processes, and system transactions.
- Procurement Support — Review parts purchasing needs, coordinate information with leadership and purchasing, identify cost-effective options, and review purchase orders for accuracy and compliance.
- Vendor Documentation — Coordinate documentation for new suppliers and service providers with Accounts Payable, Purchasing, and leadership.
- Super User Support — Serve as the departmental resource for accurate data entry, system utilization, and inventory transaction integrity.
- Work Instruction Development — Draft work instructions that improve consistency, efficiency, and compliance across procurement and inventory processes.
- Process Improvement — Identify system or process enhancements that strengthen accuracy, efficiency, and reliability.
- Maintenance & Production Coordination — Partner with maintenance management and production planning to support annual preventive maintenance through kitting and staging of parts.
- Operational Support — Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to read and interpret part descriptions, equipment information, specifications, and basic technical documentation.
- At least 2-3 years of lead or senior-level experience in a parts room, inventory, warehouse, maintenance, or manufacturing support environment, with demonstrated ability to train others, manage daily priorities, and follow established procedures.
- Ability to maintain flexible availability to support coverage needs, training, and operational priorities.
Preferred Skills (Not Required)
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field (equivalent experience will be considered).
