Synergy Flavors, part of the Carbery Group, is a leading international supplier of value-added flavors and ingredients to the bakery, confectionary, beverage, savory and nutrition industry. The company is headquartered in Wauconda, IL with additional operations in Chicago, IL, Hamilton, OH, Rochester, NY and Sao Paulo, Brazil.

This position is responsible for compounding in a production manufacturing facility. Compounders add raw materials and follow the formula requirements to complete production orders using equipment such as mixers, spray dryers and blending tanks. They must follow standard batch instructions to accurately weigh dyes, chemicals, and other substances into the equipment, check for consistency in various batches, measure the viscosity of mixtures and take samples for laboratory testing.

Compounders must follow food safety guidelines and accurately document work completed.

• Follow standard batching instructions to measure or weigh ingredients.
• Lift heavy drums and bags while wearing proper PPE.
• Transfer materials, set up equipment, and utilize piping and parts efficiently.
• Strictly follow detailed instructions to monitor equipment, control temperatures and consistency of the mixes.
• Work in a fast-paced environment able to multi-task and perform under pressure while remaining flexible.
• Sample and test for various attributes from the mixes after completion.
• Follow sanitary guidelines for CIP and cleaning.
• Fill out necessary paperwork and batch sheets that accompany mixes compounded.
• Consistently perform assigned duties in a safe manner and in accordance with the company’s safety policies.
• Consistently complete assigned duties without errors or other defects.

• HS Diploma/GED. Preferred.
• General knowledge of workplace safety and quality processes including GMPs & Allergens.
• Must follow safety requirements and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including steel-toed shoes, safety goggles and a mask as necessary.
• Attention to detail and ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Problem solving and communication skills.
• When required for the position, the employee must be able to wear a respirator with Doctor’s approval and successfully pass respiratory and pulmonary function testing.
• Ability to manually lift 50 lbs. continuously when necessary; learn and consistently follow operational and cleaning procedures; complete required documentation and record-keeping; work overtime when necessary.
• Ability to use and read scales, accurate tare and recognize unit of measure requirements.
• Basic computer skills with RF scanner experience preferred.
• External candidates preferred: experience compounding or batching in other industries.
• Internal candidates must show excellent work performance and a willingness to learn in their current role.
