Location
This role is shared between Waukee and Northwest High Schools
Terms of Employment194 or 196 days, depending on experience within WCSD
Position Criteria- Valid State of Iowa teaching license.
- 5-12 All Social Sciences certification.
- Knowledge of all Social Sciences including Psychology and Sociology highly preferred
- Previous classroom teaching experience at the 10-12 grade levels.
- Applicants with coaching or sponsorship experience encouraged to apply
- Utilize organizational and communication skills
- Create and maintain healthy relationships with students and staff.
- Demonstrate flexibility, high levels of motivation and enthusiasm when working with middle and high school learners.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the elements of a Professional Learning Community (PLC) and be able to apply that understanding to a team situation.
- Understand and apply in professional practice the Waukee Framework for Meeting the Needs of All Students.
- Understand and experience in using multiple teaching methods: co‑teaching, collaborating, whole/small group and individualized instruction.
- Commit to differentiating instruction for learners.
- Commit to meeting the needs of diverse learners, including all special populations.
- Commit to ongoing professional growth and development as described in the Iowa Professional Development Standards and support of the Iowa Teaching Standards as the foundation from which to build that ongoing growth plan.
- Demonstrate an understanding of and ability to implement the MTSS process.
- Utilize developmentally appropriate assessments for learning.
- Articulate oral and written communications.
- Maintain accurate standards based grades and provide measurable and adequate feedback on student work.
- Record of recent professional learning and knowledge of current research
- Understanding of formative assessment and evidence of using data to adapt to individual needs of students of all ability levels
- Engage in professional development.
