About Us
Immanuel Lutheran Church is a vibrant, multigenerational congregation rooted in God’s Word, the Lutheran tradition, and a warm, welcoming community. With about 500 members, our church is committed to strong, scripture-based preaching, Christ-centered discipleship, and active community engagement. We are prayerfully seeking a biblically faithful, relational, and engaging pastor to shepherd our congregation into the future.
The Opportunity
Our next pastor will build on the legacy of faithful leadership, bringing their own God-given gifts to lead us in worship, discipleship, and mission. This role includes preaching, teaching, pastoral care, and leadership while helping us continue to grow as a church family that welcomes all generations.
What You’ll Do
- Preach & Lead Worship– Deliver engaging, scripture-grounded sermons each week and lead both traditional and contemporary worship services.
- Teach & Disciple– Lead Bible studies, confirmation, and spiritual formation opportunities for all ages while mentoring lay leaders.
- Provide Pastoral Care– Be present with members in times of joy and need, visiting homes, hospitals, and care facilities; officiate weddings, funerals, and baptisms.
- Engage Youth & Families– Actively connect with children, youth, and families, fostering intergenerational ministry.
- Lead with Vision– Partner with church leadership to cast vision, develop ministry initiatives, and guide the congregation with humility and integrity.
- Serve the Community– Represent Immanuel in the Waukee community, participate in outreach efforts, and build partnerships with local organizations.
Qualifications
Required:
- Aligned with LCMC’s theology and polity
- Ordained or eligible for ordination in the LCMC (or willing to transfer credentials)
- Theological education (M.Div. or equivalent preferred)
- Strong preaching and pastoral care experience
- Ability to relate well across generations, especially with youth and older adults
- Warm, approachable, and grounded in the authority of Scripture
Preferred:
- Experience in both traditional and contemporary worship settings
- Familiarity with Lutheran liturgy and flexibility in worship styles
- Comfortable with technology and modern ministry tools
- Leadership experience with staff, volunteers, and church teams
