Job DescriptionPosition Criteria:
- Demonstrate aptitude for performing tasks listed
- Must exhibit ethical practices and be a role model to students
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
Performance Criteria:
- Assist head coach with the recruitment, auditioning, and rostering of student participants into speech team categories
- Obtain, plan, and prepare performance materials as assigned by head coach; obtain performance rights as necessary
- Conduct rehearsals and work with students in conceptualizing the material, developing vocal and physical delivery, blocking, and other technical and artistic areas of presentation
- Coordinate necessary technical needs which may include set, props, and costumes
- Support performers at contests
- Document student concerns and behavior; consult with head coach
- Communicate schedule and rehearsal information with parents and guardians
- Assist head coach with the execution of home-sponsored contests
- Enhance coaching development by attending summer workshops, fall conventions, spring meetings, and other enrichment opportunities which may include becoming a certified IHSSA judge
- Promote the program through district and public awareness
- Consult with parents, head coach, and/or administrators regarding discipline issues as needed
- Keep the head coach and district’s administration informed of matters deemed necessary
