Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain collaborative internal and external relationships through internal peer groups, focus groups, and industry or community organizations both regionally and nationally.
  • Monitor current trends and insights from surveys and other voice of the employee and member methods.
  • Provide quality service to members, potential members, and coworkers.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and professionalism in all interactions with coworkers.
  • Promote a professional image of the credit union at all times.
  • Proactively establish and maintain connections within the communities we serve to build the commercial book of business (via community events, networking, social media, email, etc.).
  • Work with other areas as needed for member issues and needs, including Business Services, Business Lending Processing, DFS/DIS, and others.
  • Demonstrate effective selling skills and behaviors including loan fee generation, loan portfolio growth, business deposit generation, and referrals to Business Services.
  • Establish and negotiate business loans, informing members of terms, costs, repayment schedules, and collateral requirements.
  • Make proactive calls to deepen existing relationships and build new business relationships.
  • Periodically collect and analyze information that reflects current credit worthiness of applicants (direct inspection, financial statements, personal interview).
  • Monitor loan repayment activities and assist in collecting past‑due accounts as needed.
  • Serve as a resource for team questions and assist with training and development of co‑workers as assigned.
  • Meet portfolio management metrics including financial exceptions, borrowing bases, annual reviews, and line of credit renewals.
  • Use job knowledge to avoid challenges and deescalate as necessary.
  • Complete borrower onboarding, assembling background information, financial statements, and other documents to evaluate credit worthiness.
  • Support loan requests through the Internal Business Loan Committee with a complete package and credit recommendation.
  • Have moderate to advanced credit and lending skills; may require assistance with loan structure for complex credits.
  • Serve as a relationship manager and facilitate discussions with members on all matters related to other credit union services (deposit services, insurance, financial planning).
  • Manage transaction processes from initial engagement through final close, including structure, pricing, internal approval/compliance processes, and documentation.
  • Aggressively grow and maintain a profitable book of business by successfully closing deals to meet or exceed revenue, contribution, fee income, loan and deposit goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in business lending.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of business financial statements and cash flow analysis.
  • Thorough knowledge of laws and regulations governing business lending practices and collection practices.
  • Excellent ability to systematically gather, read, retrieve, and interpret data to make effective decisions.
