  • Join an established and growing pulmonary practice consisting of two physicians, one Advanced Practice Provider, and experienced clinical and administrative support staff.
  • Serve as the primary Advanced Practice Provider for the Lung Nodule Program, providing longitudinal care to patients with incidental, screening-detected, and otherwise identified pulmonary nodules.
  • Opportunity to help develop and expand a comprehensive Lung Nodule Program serving patients throughout Central Iowa.
  • Work closely with pulmonologists, oncology providers, thoracic surgery, radiology, an oncology nurse navigator, and other multidisciplinary partners to coordinate timely evaluation and treatment.
  • Practice with a high degree of autonomy while maintaining close physician collaboration and support.
  • Full-time, outpatient position with no nights, weekends, or call responsibilities.
  • Dedicated administrative time to support patient follow-up, results management, care coordination, and continued program development.
  • Fully integrated health system utilizing Epic across outpatient clinics and hospitals to support communication and continuity of care.
  • Evaluate and longitudinally manage patients with pulmonary nodules, including review of imaging, risk factors, clinical history, and relevant diagnostic testing.
  • Develop individualized surveillance and diagnostic plans in collaboration with the supervising pulmonologists and multidisciplinary care team.
  • Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic studies, including follow-up imaging and pulmonary testing, within the APP’s scope of practice.
  • Communicate imaging and testing results to patients and provide clear education regarding recommended surveillance, diagnostic evaluation, and next steps.
  • Collaborate closely with the oncology nurse navigator to track patients, coordinate testing and referrals, and reduce delays or gaps in follow-up.
  • Facilitate timely referral to pulmonology physicians, interventional pulmonology, thoracic surgery, oncology, radiation oncology, or other specialties when indicated.
  • Support growth of the Lung Nodule Program by building relationships with primary care, emergency medicine, radiology, oncology, and other referring departments.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation, results management, patient communication, and follow-up.
  • May provide general outpatient pulmonary care based on program volume, patient access needs, and the APP’s experience and interests.
  • Anticipated average of 10 or more patients per day as the program develops, with scheduling adjusted to reflect patient complexity and care-coordination needs.
  • Comfort managing a combination of new consultations, surveillance visits, results discussions, and follow-up care.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize competing needs, and recognize when physician or multidisciplinary consultation is appropriate.
