Senior Accountant – Property & Casualty Insurance

An established Property & Casualty insurance organization with approximately $100M+ in annual revenue is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its growing accounting team. This is an opportunity for an experienced Property & Casualty Accounting professional to step into a highly visible role supporting both GAAP and statutory accounting in a collaborative environment where strong insurance accounting expertise is valued and rewarded.
Position Overview
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for general ledger accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and support of statutory reporting activities. This position offers exposure across multiple areas of insurance accounting and the opportunity to contribute to ongoing process improvements and operational initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
- Maintain general ledger integrity and supporting schedules
- Prepare and analyze financial reports and reporting packages
- Support statutory reporting and regulatory compliance requirements
- Research and resolve account variances and discrepancies
- Assist with financial statement preparation and related reporting deliverables
- Partner with internal stakeholders across finance and operations
- Coordinate with teams involved in reinsurance-related activities and reporting
- Support internal and external audit requests
- Participate in process improvement initiatives that enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency
- Assist with documentation of accounting procedures and internal controls
Qualifications
- 5+ years of accounting experience within a Property & Casualty insurance organization
- Direct Property & Casualty insurance accounting experience required
- Strong general ledger accounting and month-end close experience
- Experience operating within a GAAP accounting environment
- Financial reporting and account reconciliation experience
- Statutory accounting and reporting experience strongly preferred
- Exposure to reinsurance accounting, reporting, or related coordination activities preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- CPA preferred
- Experience with Microsoft GP, Prospero, or similar accounting systems is a plus
Compensation
- Base salary: $85, + 5% target bonus
Location
- Hybrid schedule with approximately two days per week in office
- Flexibility available as business needs allow
- Paid Time Off (PTO): 20 days of PTO annually, plus 5 paid sick days. PTO is offered on an accrual basis and prorated based on hire date.
- Paid Holidays: 10 paid holidays per year.
