Starting at $60,000 (flexible based on experience) + Paid Overtime for all hours worked over 40/week
Sterling Engineering is hiring an Estimator for a well‑established, industry‑leading commercial flooring contractor with over 40 years of success and a strong reputation in the market. Having completed high‑profile projects—including the locker room floors at Soldier Field for the Chicago Bears—our client continues to experience significant growth and is looking to add to its estimating team.

Key Responsibilities- Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, specifications, and bid documents for commercial flooring projects.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and prepare takeoff summaries for projects ranging from small tenant improvements to large commercial, healthcare, and corporate developments.
- Develop labor scopes and accurate estimates for bids and change orders.
- Create shop drawings to support installation and project execution.
- Research flooring products, material availability, and proper applications.
- Review project history for scope comparisons and estimating accuracy.
- Collaborate with Pricing, Project Management, Sales, and Installation teams throughout the estimating process.
- Utilize estimating software, including Measure Square (experience preferred but not required).
- Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of relevant estimating, construction, or related experience.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, specification books, and construction documents.
- Experience preparing quantity takeoffs, takeoff summaries, and construction bids.
- Construction industry experience required; commercial flooring experience is a plus but not required.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and general estimating software.
- Highly organized with strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
