Duration: 12+ Month Contract

Schedule: Onsite / off hours and weekends

I am looking for a Sr Site Engineer / Sr Construction Superintendent to provide onsite construction oversight for capital improvement and facility projects.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being in the field, coordinating contractors and trades, resolving construction issues, and keeping projects moving safely and on schedule. Pharmaceutical or FDA-regulated experience is not required.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as the owner’s onsite representative during construction.
  • Oversee general contractors, subcontractors, and multiple trades.
  • Monitor daily construction progress, quality, safety, and scheduling.
  • Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
  • Identify field conflicts, delays, and safety concerns and drive them to resolution.
  • Coordinate site access, permits, deliveries, shutdowns, and construction sequencing.
  • Lead or participate in project and contractor coordination meetings.
  • Maintain daily reports, progress photographs, punch lists, and project documentation.
  • Support startup, commissioning, project closeout, and turnover.
  • Work overtime as required to support construction schedules.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience as a Site Engineer, Construction Superintendent, Resident Engineer, Field Engineer, Construction Manager, or Owner’s Representative.
  • Strong construction oversight experience within industrial, commercial, institutional, healthcare, manufacturing, warehouse, or infrastructure environments.
  • Experience managing contractors, subcontractors, and field activities.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with RFIs, submittals, change orders, inspections, punch lists, and closeout.
  • Strong understanding of construction safety, quality, and scheduling.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work onsite in North Chicago and work overtime when needed.
