Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 serves nearly 17,000 students in preschool through grade 12 and is located halfway between Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan. Our District has one early learning center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and a high school program divided between 9th-10th and 11th-12th grade campuses. The District encompasses portions of Waukegan, Beach Park and Park City.

Characteristics of the Position:
Beginning with the school year Co-Principals jointly and collaboratively lead the school and manage operations of Waukegan High School..
This proven leader is responsible for implementing and maintaining aggressive educational reform. This individual will maintain the vision of the transformation process and continually communicate this vision to administrators, teachers, community members, district officials, and students while utilizing their comprehensive experience and expertise in academic programming at the secondary level in order to ensure complete implementation of academic and instructional reform at the high school.
The Co-Principal must be able to inspire and motivate administrators, teachers, staff and students. The Co-Principal must be able to maintain and further high academic standards by overseeing the curricula teams, using data to make instructional and curricular improvements, facilitate and support on-going professional development, create high performing teams to ensure gap-closing achievement. The Co-Principal must be a passionate, student-centered, teacher-leader, who accepts the responsibility for maintaining an academic environment of excellence for all Waukegan High School students.
The Co-Principal is directly responsible to the Area Superintendent and will receive direction from the Lead Co-Principal.
Essential Functions:
Serve as instructional leader for school transformation for the 11-12th grade campus with the ability to clearly communicate and monitor the implementation of a focused educational reform movement directed at rapidly improving student academic achievement. The Co-Principal possesses the leadership ability to develop and sustain a positive academic culture while holding the school accountable for student achievement. The Co-Principal must develop, implement and lead a comprehensive school improvement plan outlining targeted goals and systems for progress monitoring.
Leadership:
This includes but is not limited to:
* Assist School Directors (APs) and staff with leading school transformation
* Supervise the delivery of curriculum to ensure fidelity to standards
* Continuously monitor the implementation of instructional norms, targeted academic intervention programs, and common curriculum to ensure full fidelity of implementation in all courses at the high school to support general, diverse learners and ELL students
* Evaluates the performance of personnel to improve competencies
* Demand effective, varied instruction, which maximizes student engagement, and learning with rich content, appropriate text, and analytical thinking;
* Assist School Directors (APs) and Master Scheduler in overseeing the development the high school master schedule that will provide for the efficient operation of the school and result in a high level of learning for ALL students
* The Co-Principal is responsible for hiring, supervising, and evaluating School Directors, School Administrators, teachers and various support staff members assigned to the high school
* Responsible to oversee the development of the high school master schedule that will provide for the efficient operation of the school and result in a high level of learning for all students
* Responsible for program implementation of School Counseling and Post-Secondary supports and services and success execute a plan for increasing dual enrollment
* Facilitate and develop a strategic plan to execute MTSS standards and expectations to ensure all students are receiving core instruction and/or intervention supports to increase student success.
* Use needs assessment data to identify professional development activities for implementation throughout the school year with all populations of high school employees
* Supervise the implementation of the district and building discipline policies
* Ensure students' right to due process
* Submit reports as required regarding probations, parole, and corrections
