Overview

Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 serves nearly 14,000 students from preschool through 12th grade and is located halfway between Chicago, Illinois, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan. The district includes one early learning center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools, and a high school program divided between two 9–12 grade campuses, covering portions of Waukegan, Beach Park, and Park City.

Organizational Relationship

Under the primary direction of the principal at both high school campuses, the Master Schedule and Assessment Coordinator will ensure both campuses implement a balanced assessment system and a master schedule for all students that promotes academic excellence, fosters a safe and caring environment, inspires social‑emotional growth, and empowers students to graduate college and career ready.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the organization and implementation of assessment programs.
  • Plan, organize, and prepare for all district, state, and national assessments.
  • Coordinate and develop a schedule to implement all district and state assessments in alignment with the district’s assessment calendar.
  • Collaborate with teachers, building administration across all campuses, and all district departments to implement best practices, policies, and protocols related to assessments.
  • Prepare the overall planning and implementation of the high school master scheduling process in alignment with district deadlines and the collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
  • Survey staff annually for teaching assignment preference per the CBA.
  • Program Infinite Campus to reflect the master scheduling needs of both sites.
  • Ensure proper planning and preparation of the master scheduling process and align school preparation with district expectations and priorities.
  • Define district parameters and plan with school sites around key information, including enrollment projections, allocation of FTEs, and curriculum alignment.
  • Ensure all course numbers and course requirements are aligned with state and district requirements for scheduling and awarding credits.
  • Maintain clear and concise communication with all school leaders.
  • Create a master schedule that is inclusive of intervention/enrichment support.
  • Comply with federal, state, and district policies.
  • Participate in the development of annual School Improvement Plans (SIP) with building administration and/or instructional leadership teams (ILT).
  • Meet regularly with building administration or designee to discuss progress toward district initiatives and school‑based SIP goals.
  • Meet with school administration across all campuses to discuss any master scheduling/assessment issues as needed.
  • Evaluate professional development needs for certified and non‑certified employees through assessment, needs analysis, surveying, and consultation with appropriate parties.
  • Be familiar with the district’s collective bargaining agreement.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or higher required.
  • Administrative Endorsement (Type 75) required.
  • Teaching certificate preferred.
  • At least 3–5 years of successful secondary (6–12) teaching experience in public or private schools of equivalent status preferred.
  • Experience as a secondary or district‑level administrator preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Detailed knowledge and experience in the coordination of high school assessments.
  • Detailed knowledge and experience in the development of school master schedules.
  • Good communication, organizational, computer, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite and Google Suite (Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, GMail, Google Calendar, etc.).
  • Strong writing, speaking, listening, and interpersonal skills.
