LTS rate $300 per 7.25 hr day includes grading and Plan/Prep/GH/Collab; employer TRS contribution benefits may apply.

Term: 08/10/2026–09/21/2026 (anticipated)

License

Required:

Professional Educator License (registered in DuPage County) and Endorsement for H.S. in the subject identified.

The qualified candidate will perform duties and responsibilities to ensure that learning keeps moving forward during a teacher's extended absence.

Qualifications
  • Professional educator's license in the subject area identified.
  • Knowledge of best practices as it relates to supporting (all) students' ability to learn.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Honors or AP experience preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Instruct students based on subject- or level-specific curriculum; grade assignments and maintain attendance.
  • Supplement lesson plans utilizing interactive technology as appropriate.
  • Supervise and ensure safety of students during classroom hours.
  • Meet with Department Chair on a regular basis and seek mentoring from other departmental staff members.
  • Maintain the highest level of ethical and professional demeanor with students and staff consistent with district policies on Sexual Harassment, Equal Educational Opportunity, Ethics, Use of Electronic Media, and other appropriate policies.
  • May need to participate in parent‑teacher conferences and/or school-sponsored professional development.
  • Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board policy.
  • Maintain student confidentiality.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as correspondence, surveys, and electronic media.
  • Ability to write professional communications.
  • Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from individuals and groups.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and community members.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in written form.
  • Ability to complete mathematical operations and apply concepts of basic mathematics.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to maintain current job skills as directed, especially in technology-related activities.
  • Ability to perform essential duties with an awareness of school district requirements and School Board policies.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Office duties may involve sitting, talking, hearing, standing, walking, operating computers, reaching, typing, and occasional lifting up to 30 pounds.
  • Vision: close vision and ability to adjust focus; tolerance of video display terminals.
  • Work may be conducted at one site with occasional travel to other sites for meetings, conferences, workshops, or events.
