Job Description

Step into a rewarding role supporting young learners near Chicago, IL as a Special Education Teacher in a K-2 multi-needs classroom. This in-person, contract opportunity covers a leave of absence and begins August 11th, with the potential to extend beyond September 23rd. You’ll work with a close-knit group of four students in a self-contained setting, providing essential instruction for core subjects while helping facilitate their integration into general education activities.

Paraprofessionals are assigned to the classroom, ensuring you have strong support as you make a meaningful impact.

Key

Qualifications:
  • Valid Special Education teaching certification for Illinois, with relevant K-2 experience preferred
  • Background in self-contained multi-needs or similar settings
  • Familiarity with adaptive teaching strategies and differentiated instruction
  • Skilled in developing and implementing IEPs and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong communication and organization abilities
  • Committed to fostering an inclusive, nurturing classroom environment
Responsibilities:
  • Deliver core academic instruction tailored to diverse learning profiles
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals and related services staff to support student progress
  • Ensure IEP goals are met, tracking and reporting student growth
  • Promote social-emotional development and celebrate student successes
  • Facilitate inclusion for select activities within the general education setting
  • Maintain accurate documentation and uphold compliance requirements
  • Engage with families to foster open communication and partnership
