Cybersecurity Engineer (Offensive Security / Penetration Testing)
Compensation: $90,000 – $105,000
O Fallon, IL or St. Louis, MO (On‑Site)

Position Summary
At Secure Data Technologies, execution is everything. We are seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer who delivers results with consistency, ownership, and precision. This role is responsible for executing penetration tests across internal networks, Active Directory environments, and web applications. You will own engagements end-to-end and communicate findings clearly to both technical and business stakeholders.

Day in the Life

  • Review engagement scope, priorities, and active deliverables
  • Execute penetration testing across networks, Active Directory, and web applications
  • Identify and validate vulnerabilities through hands‑on exploitation
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align on findings and remediation
  • Build clear, professional, client‑ready reports
  • Present findings with a focus on impact and actionable next steps
  • Manage multiple engagements while meeting deadlines

Key Responsibilities

Penetration Testing & Red Team Operations

  • Perform internal network penetration testing across client environments
  • Support and execute red team engagements simulating real‑world attack scenarios
  • Conduct Active Directory security assessments, including privilege escalation and attack path analysis
  • Develop proof‑of‑concept exploits to validate and demonstrate risk

Vulnerability Analysis & Remediation

  • Validate vulnerabilities beyond automated scan results
  • Assess and prioritize risk with clear remediation guidance
  • Partner with internal teams and clients to improve security posture

Engagement Ownership

  • Manage full engagement lifecycle: scoping, execution, reporting, and client debrief
  • Deliver all reports on time with no exceptions
  • Maintain high standards for documentation and reporting quality
  • Align testing with PTES methodology or equivalent

  • Independently own and deliver penetration testing engagements
  • Produce clear, actionable client‑ready reports on time
  • Build trust with clients through strong communication and execution
  • Manage multiple engagements without sacrificing quality
  • Demonstrate proficiency in company tools, processes, and standards
  • Identify opportunities to improve execution and reporting

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of hands‑on penetration testing experience
  • Proven ability to independently execute and deliver engagements
  • Strong technical writing skills with client‑facing reporting experience
  • Experience presenting to technical and non‑technical stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field

Technical Skills & Tools

  • Internal network penetration testing
  • Active Directory auditing and exploitation
  • Vulnerability scanning and analysis

Tools:
Burp Suite, Cobalt Strike, Blood Hound, Nuclei, Nessus, or equivalent

Preferred Certifications

  • OSCP preferred
  • GPEN, GWAPT, CRTO
  • High ownership and accountability
  • Self‑directed with minimal oversight
  • Consistent delivery of high‑quality work on deadline
  • Clear and professional communication
  • Maintains current knowledge of evolving threats and technologies

Physical & Work Environment Requirements
This is a sedentary role requiring extended computer use, strong attention to detail, and frequent communication. Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds and limited regional travel may be required.
