Job Title:
Lead Mechanical VAVE Engineer
Job Location: Greater Logansport, IN(Relocation assistance provided)
Salary: $120K to $140K per year plus a bonus and additional Benefits For Example: Relocation assistance)
OverviewThe Lead Mechanical VAVE Engineer drives Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VA/VE) initiatives across vehicle platforms. This role focuses on cost optimization, design innovation, and delivering high-quality, manufacturable engineering solutions aligned with business goals.
Key Responsibilities- Lead end-to-end VA/VE initiatives from concept to production.
- Design and develop vehicle conversions using CAD tools (Inventor).
- Engineer and integrate vehicle systems (structures, suspensions, mechanisms, closures).
- Identify cost-saving opportunities while improving performance and quality.
- Build and manage a pipeline of design optimization ideas.
- Align design, procurement, and validation with APQP/stage-gate processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, etc.).
- Drive standardization, common design strategies, and low-cost alternatives.
- Support prototype development and validation activities.
- Lead design reviews and ensure targets for cost, quality, and timing are met.
- Continuously improve engineering processes and product designs.
- Strong experience in vehicle system design and integration.
- Expertise in structural design, sheet metal, welding, and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of automotive systems (fuel, braking, cooling, exhaust).
- Proficiency in FEA, DFMEA/PFMEA, DFM/DFA, GD&T, DOE, and tolerance stack-up.
- Solid material selection and cost optimization skills.
- Experience with CAD tools (Inventor, AutoCAD) and ERP systems.
- Strong problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
- 4+ years of automotive mechanical design experience.
- Experience with vehicle launch or assembly environment (preferred).
- Strong understanding of GD&T and dimensional management
. - Experience with steel and aluminum component design.
